Welcome to The Hollies Website

The Hollies Pre-school was inspected by Ofsted in March 2015 and they judged us as being OUTSTANDING - more details below.

Introduction

Our aim at the Hollies Pre-School in Poynton, Cheshire is to provide a safe and happy environment where children can grow and learn under the guidance and supervision of our dedicated and caring staff.

We hope to fulfil their physical, intellectual, emotional and social needs, whilst showing them kindness, consistent discipline and encouragement in a happy and informal setting.

We also encourage children to learn about other cultures through our special links with pre-schools in Uganda.

The Hollies Pre-school Vision

At The Hollies Pre-school it is our vision to continue to support every child’s individual needs by allowing them the freedom of choice and growth within a safe and happy environment.  We actively promote Fundamental British Values such as democracy, mutual respect and understanding that rules matter.

We celebrate every child’s uniqueness; encouraging and inspiring them to create, explore, be imaginative and learn in a friendly and welcoming atmosphere, whilst offering them a broad range of educational opportunities.

It is our vision to welcome parents/carers into The Hollies, at every opportunity, to come and join in their child’s adventures at The Hollies.  We will strive to have open days and support parents/carers in their role as main educator to their child.

We will aim to provide relevant and up to date training for all staff and endeavour to include other pre-schools so training can be shared.

We advocate a sense of belonging and strive to develop self-esteem through; fun, respect, teamwork and equality.

We celebrate our success with great pride

Welcome 'Policy'

At The Hollies we welcome new parents to come and look around. The manager will show them around the setting and discuss different aspects of the setting including routines, session times, key person, Early Years Foundation Stage etc. We ask that new parents make an appointment to visit and that they bring photographic identification with them on the day. This is part of our safeguarding policy. We will also ask for a contact phone number so we can confirm the appointment.

If you would like to come and have a look round please email: admin@theholliespreschool.co.uk or ring 01625 850176 and speak to Rachel or a Supervisor.

Weekly Activities

Children will be progressing through the areas of learning by accessing a well-planned curriculum based on their play, interests and experiences. Activities are planned each term. These are based on half-termly topics taking into account the children’s interests. All planning is subject to change should the children’s interest take us along a different route.

During play the staff support the children, responding to their needs with both adult led and child initiated spontaneous play. Each week the key person will plan ‘focus groups’, which are adult led activities based one the children’s stage of development and interests. These groups are to help prepare the children for ‘big school’ the following September, and take place in the flower room. Caterpillar groups are held for the younger children. These focus on the prime areas of learning, helping to develop social and communication skills.

The children have access to both indoor and outdoor areas throughout the session and varied activities that are changed regularly. We also have access to the Lower Park school field where we take the children on wellie walks, exploring the natural environment.
